Surin Beach
Perhaps five hundred metres of sand between two rocky headlands, backed by casuarinas and some of the most expensive addresses on the island. It is the smallest beach on this list and the quietest of the developed ones.
Surin is the shortest beach on this list and the one hardest to write about honestly, because it is small, it is quiet, and it is mostly known for what is behind it rather than what is on it.
Perhaps five hundred metres of sand runs between two rocky headlands, backed by casuarinas and by some of the most expensive addresses on Phuket. There is very little on the sand itself.
The water
Surin shares its grid cell with Kamala, so the two carry identical figures: 0.45m in February and 1.26m in July. That places it on the calmer half of the west coast, north of Patong and south of Bang Tao, on the stretch where the coastline begins to turn and the swell arrives at an angle rather than head on.
The bay is steeper at its southern end than its northern one, and the headlands mean the water is calmer than the open beaches either side in most conditions.
A note on what we can and cannot show you
This is the thinnest page in this set and we would rather say so than pad it. Surin has almost no freely licensed photography: the whole of Wikimedia Commons holds three images of it, against two hundred and thirty-five of Patong. We have used the one that is unambiguously Surin and have not filled the gap with a generic beach photograph captioned as this one.
Getting here
About twenty-five minutes from the airport, between Kamala to the south and Bang Tao to the north. It is more often a place people stay near than a beach they travel to.

Surin Beach FAQs
Is Surin beach worth visiting?+
As a swim and a couple of hours, yes, particularly if you are staying nearby. As a destination in its own right it is small and there is little on it, and Kamala ten minutes south has more of everything without being busy.
Is Surin beach quiet?+
Yes, and it is one of the quietest developed beaches on the west coast. That is partly its size and partly that there is not much on the sand to draw people to it.
