Thailand Frontier

How we’re funded

Affiliate disclosure

Thailand Frontier sells nothing and carries no advertising. It is paid for by booking commission, and this page sets out the arrangement in full.

The short version

  • Tour and transfer links go to Viator. Accommodation goes to Agoda, with Stay22 for comparing an area. Car hire links go to DiscoverCars.
  • A booking pays us a commission from the platform, not from your price.
  • That commission is what funds the research behind the guides.
  • It buys no ranking, no rating and no softer wording.
  • Temple entry fees, the free beaches and a scooter hired locally pay us nothing.

What the booking links do

The links that hand you off to book something carry a tag naming Thailand Frontier as the referrer. Book, and the company pays us a share of what it earned on that sale. The tag has no other job. It does not follow you around the web for us, and the page you are reading is written the same whether you use it or not.

Who pays us

  • Viator, part of Tripadvisor, for the bookable days: island-hopping boats to Phi Phi and the Similans, Bangkok temple and market tours, elephant sanctuary visits, cooking classes and airport transfers.
  • Agoda for places to stay. It is the booking platform with the deepest coverage in Thailand, and it is where the hotel cards on our where-to-stay guides lead.

  • Booking.com. We are in their affiliate programme and currently link to them from nowhere on this site. Accommodation goes to Agoda, with Stay22 for the compare-the-area links. If that changes this line changes with it.

  • Stay22 for the "compare stays in this area" links on our where-to-stay guides. Stay22 is a comparison layer rather than a booking site: it opens a map of one area across several accommodation platforms, and it pays us if you go on to book through one of them.

  • DiscoverCars for car hire. Added on 28 August 2026, starting with our Phuket car-hire guide. The daily rates quoted on that page are DiscoverCars' own lowest advertised figures, fetched fresh on every deploy rather than typed in once.

No villa, operator, driver or tourism board pays us directly. Until 28 August 2026 this paragraph said we were in no car rental programme, which was true when it was written and is not any more: the Phuket car-hire guide links to DiscoverCars and we are paid if you book. Nothing else about how that page is written changed, and its recommendation for Bangkok is still not to hire a car at all.

Your price

Identical. The commission is taken from the platform's own margin after the sale. There is no fee for using our links and no better rate available by avoiding them.

What commission cannot buy here

  • Position. Tour lists are ordered on review volume from the Viator feed, so a trip with several thousand reviews sits above a new listing whatever the rate on either.
  • A softer verdict. Where an attraction is a queue for one photograph, or where a widely sold day trip spends most of itself in traffic, the page says so next to the link that pays us.
  • Coverage. Temple entry paid at the gate, the free stretches of coast, a warung lunch and the scooter you hire from the guesthouse are all in the guides and none of them earn us anything.

Every fee and fare we quote sits on an internal register with the date it was last checked, so a figure cannot quietly go stale. The rest of the standards are in the editorial guidelines.

Why we spell this out

The FTC in the United States and the ASA and CMA in the United Kingdom require paid relationships to be disclosed plainly, and we agree with the principle. Thailand is written about by a great many sites that are paid and do not say so.

About the figures

Prices in Thailand move with the season and with the baht, so we publish ranges. This is a static site: any number was correct at the last build and is not refreshed as you read. The price and cancellation terms shown by Viator or Agoda when you book are the ones that apply.

Photographs

Tour photographs are served from the Viator feed and belong to the operators running those tours; we display them to illustrate the trip we are linking to. Hotel photographs come from the Agoda partner feed and belong to the properties they show. Neither set is offered under a free licence, and neither is copied to this site.

Every other photograph is licensed, and the credit appears twice: at the foot of the page that publishes it, and in full on the image credits page. Most are Creative Commons, where showing the attribution is a condition of use rather than a courtesy. The outline of the Thailand map drawn on this site is from simplemaps.com.
