Routes

Phuket to Koh Samui

Fly if the budget allows. This is a crossing between two coasts, not a hop along one, and the overland route spends most of a day getting to a pier on the far side of the peninsula.

Bangkok Airways is the only carrier flying it non-stop, and it owns Samui airport, which is why the fare is what it is.

Seven to eight hours by coach to Donsak on the Gulf side, then 45 minutes to 2 hours on the ferry depending on the operator.

The season changes this. The two coasts do not share a season. Phuket's wettest months are the Gulf's driest, so a crossing in October can mean leaving rain and arriving in more of it: November is the Gulf's wettest month by a distance.

These times and fares come from booking agents and route aggregators, not from operator timetables. Most Thai ferry and minivan operators publish no English schedule. Treat every figure as a planning range and confirm it before you build a day around it. Last read on 20 August 2026, from FlightsFrom and 12Go.
